The Cycle for CHEO event will return to the streets of Ottawa this May, with bike riders looking to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Participants pledge to cycle a distance ranging from fifteen kilometres to the hundred-kilometre “Century Ride.” Those more comfortable on two feet than two wheels can also sign up for a five or two kilometre walk. Routes will go along the Rideau River and other waterways, with start times staggered so riders and walkers can conclude at the same time.
The ride will conclude at a festival area with free barbecue and live music. Children and parents can visit Super Griff’s Golden Family Fun Zone, a petting zoo, an inflatable castles. Participants will also receive a race packet with a bib providing free entry and food and other complimentary items. Charitable races and similar events often provide Promotional Products and clothing to help commemorate the occasion.
Money raised will go towards CHEO’s Oncology Care & Research department, benefiting children and youth facing cancer. Donors can sign up as teams and be entered onto a leaderboard, with separate categories for workplace and friends and family teams.
The 2026 Cycle for CHEO event will take place in Ottawa on the morning of May 3, with the Canadian War Museum serving as the event hub. Some roads in Ottawa will be closed for the event.
