Ottawa will host its version of the Ironman Canada race this summer, with a full weekend of events leading up to an endurance-testing triathlon.
The event will feature a swim through one of Ottawa’s scenic rivers, followed by a bicycle route throughout the city and a run to the finish in downtown Ottawa, with the finish line beside the historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier and in the shadow of Parliament Hill. The fastest athletes in a variety of categories will receive awards and recognition at the finish line.
The weekend of events will include an “Ironman Village” where athletes can sign up, pick up credentials, purchase bicycles and attend briefings and education sessions. There will be an Ironkids fun run race on Saturday for young competitors to try their hands at each of the activities. A celebration breakfast and awards ceremony will be hosted on the day after the race.
The race will serve as a qualifying event for the 2026 Ironman World Championship. The Ottawa race has been awarded as one of athletes’ favourites and is supported by local “triclubs” and volunteers. Athletic events like this often use flyer printing and social media to help attract participants and spectators.
The 2026 Ironman Canada-Ottawa race will take place on the morning of August 2, with the race beginning at Britannia Beach. Shoulder events will run from June 30 to August 3 at Major’s Hill Park.
