The former premier of Ontario and current interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Bob Rae, has been showing off his musical talents at a recent Rapport Youth and Family Services fundraiser.
Demonstrating he is more than just a politician, Rae took to the stage at the Living Arts Center in Mississauga, where he played the piano and sang a set of songs, much to the delight of the crowd.
The audience of 70 people, many of whom are either currently involved in or retired from the political arena, enjoyed the show immensely, and the event raised over $20,000 for the Rapport Eclypse Youth Center in Brampton and its Youth Arts Against Violence programs.
The performance, which has been dubbed ‘Bob Rae Unplugged’ by many, was followed by a successful auction which involved the selling of five works of art produced by youths who use the center.
A portion of the funds that were raised may be used to purchase promotional items and supplies produced by Print companies. These materials will be an ideal way to help get the word out to the public about Eclypse and its programs.
Never one to shy away from public attention, Rae is known for his public performances, and those who can’t see him in person can log on to YouTube to see him sing and play online. With his growing popularity, he may just give Justin Bieber a real run for his money as Canada’s biggest singing idol.
