Improvements coming to River Grove community center

The residents of Mississauga were given the chance to ask questions and air their views to the council at a community center forum recently.

Staff members from the Mississauga department of Recreation and Facilities, as well as Property Management staff, were on hand at Mississauga’s River Grove center to allay any concerns regarding the impending improvements and renovations to the center’s infrastructure.

River Grove has the highest usage of any of Mississauga’s community center buildings, and includes such facilities as a large indoor pool, a hot tub, a water slide, squash courts and meeting rooms. The building was constructed in 1996, and has undergone some minor repairs, but the time has come for a major overhaul to accommodate a steadily growing user-base.

The center will be closed as of June so the work can take place. It is set to re-open to the public in July next year. Most of the center’s regular programs have been relocated to the other community recreation buildings in Mississauga.

Those who have paid yearly memberships may use them at any one of these other locations. Further information can be found on the Mississauga city website. For those who would prefer to read a paper version can obtain a copy of the Active Mississauga recreation guide, which has been produced by a Print company, from one of the other centers.

The improvements will bring the facilities up to today’s standards, and it is hoped that the center will continue to meet the needs of the neighborhood for many years.
