Camp to invite Mississauga kids into the kitchen

An event on offer to Mississauga kids will take some of the chill out of the January winter by encouraging them to step into the kitchen at a cooking camp.

The future chefs will be whipping up an assortment of dishes, and while they do, they will be taught a variety of cooking techniques.

This year’s Cooking Camp is open to children between the ages of 5 and 14, and all tasks performed will be age appropriate. Kids will get a hands-on experience by making their own lunches using child-friendly recipes and the afternoons will be reserved for the baking challenge.

The peanut-free camp will invite kids to try their hand at an assortment of cooking techniques that they can use to lend a hand with meal prep at home, and nutrition will also be discussed. They will be supervised at all times, and encouraged to try as many of the techniques taught as they can.

Events like this can help kids to gain confidence in the kitchen. Anyone organizing similar events can count on local Print shops to supply them with personalized aprons, name tags and even chef’s hats for attendees to wear and keep as a souvenir of their experience.

These hands-on learning sessions will start on January 2nd, and will be set up in St. Dominic's Catholic Church. The registration fee is $275.00 per child.
