Winter festival to celebrate London North area culture

After an exciting first instalment last year, the Dung Ah Town Winter Festival will return to showcase the diversity of London North and other parts of the city.

The festival aims to put on display creators, artisans, and performers from London’s community, with an eye to Black, Indigenous and People of Colour communities. The centrepiece will be a marketplace with work from local artists and artisans, with jewellery, fashion, and crafts on offer. Local food and drink vendors will also be on hand to provide a sample of cuisines from around the world. There will also be live music, dance performances, and other events taking place on a stage.

Activities at the Dung Ah Town Festival include face painting, art demonstrations, games, workshops, and other events aimed at encouraging creativity. Festivals such as this often use unique images and graphic design to help draw in curious onlookers.

Organizer Lauri Morrison described the event as stemming from a desire to encourage shopping local:

“When COVID hit we realized how many small businesses were out there. A lot more people found their creativity, found their ‘it’ so to speak, so we want to help showcase that as much as possible.”

The second annual Dung Ah Town Winter Festival will take place on November 25 and 26 on Dundas Street in downtown London.
