This August will see the return of the Aeolian Jazz & Musical Arts Festival, showcasing jazz greats at one of London’s most historic venues.
Running across a whole week, the series will be headlined by iconic Canadian jazz vocalists Molly Johnson and Holly Cole, who bookend the series of six concerts. Other nights will feature veteran acts such as trio Monkey House, hard bop ensemble Peter Karle Combo, and award-winning singer-songwriter-turned-CBC Music host Laila Biali. Each show will also feature a number of emerging artists and hidden gems with names like Big Bandemic & The Crooners, Sleepy Jean, and Mark Swan’s Good Hang.
In addition to the main stage, the festival will include a Southern Lounge Stage and the D&S Pianos Stage. There will also be a number of workshops for developing musicians to learn from big names. Each show will be separately ticketed, with multi-show tickets available.
The festival, also known as AJAMAF, will hope to draw in jazz fans from nearby areas such as London North and Southern Ontario at large. Smaller music festivals such as this, often promoted through flyer printing and local media advertisement, have the freedom to focus on particular genres while still bringing in well-known artists.
The 2023 Aeolian Jazz and Musical Arts Festival will take place at Aeolian Hall from August 13 to 19.
