London North area event to highlight international film

The Forest City Film Festival will be holding its annual community day this October, this year with an emphasis on South Asian film.

The event, dubbed South Asian Film Day, will feature four movies in different genres from the Indian subcontinent. There will be two recent releases that have drawn international plaudits in All We Imagine As Light, a Mumbai-set psychological drama that became the first Indian winner of the Cannes Grand Prix, and The Glassblower, Pakistan’s first hand-drawn animated film. Attendees can also watch two classic films – Charulata, from pioneering director Satyajit Ray, and Eega, from Tollywood crowd-pleaser S. S. Rajamouli, who would later go on to direct the breakout hit RRR.

In addition to the chance to see these movies on the big screen, South Asian Film Day will include cultural performances and food vendors drawing on diverse South Asian cultures. The event is part of the broader Forest City Film Festival, which will include screenings of new and classic films, musical performances, the presentation of a new Lifetime Achievement in Entertainment Award for contributors to film from Southwestern Ontario, industry events, and more. Film festivals like this often use flyer printing and other Forms of Print advertising to draw in movie lovers from nearby areas like North London and Thorndale.

South Asian Film Day will take place on October 23 at Wolf Performance Hall. Forest City Film Festival runs from October 19 to 27.
