London event to combine VR, art, and competition

This February will see London host the Global Tilt Brush Art Fest and Tournament, an event in which attendees paint and create images in virtual reality.

Tilt Brush is a tool for painting within virtual reality spaces, developed by Skillman & Hacket and acquired by Google. The program has been praised for being accessible to beginners while offering a wide range of features.

The Art Fest requires that all submissions be made in person, and aims to attract both newcomers and experts. Each participant will have 45 minutes to create an immersive, three-dimensional landscape. Those most adept at using the new technology to realize their creative vision could attain international fame.

At the weekend’s conclusion, two winners will be chosen, one for a newcomer and one for an experienced user. The prize is a three-month residency at VRcadia, the London-based virtual reality arcade, and entry into a global contest which will also include winners from cities across North America and the London across the pond.

Events like this combine the time-tested appeal of social gatherings and the latest technology, and as such are advertised by diverse methods like social media, flyer printing, web advertising and brochure printing. The grand champion will be displayed in New York’s Time Square, among other rewards.

The London edition of the Global Tilt Brush Art Fest and Tournament will take place on February 22 and 23 at VRcadia.
