Archaeological scavenger hunt to return to London North area

After a successful first outing, London’s Museum of Ontario Archaeology will be bringing back its Heritage Scavenger Hunt this August to showcase some of the city’s historic sites.

The scavenger hunt will be an outdoor experience that will see participating teams travel around 10 historic sites. Each site will contain a mission that also has an educational component referring to London’s heritage. Locations include the museum itself, as well as historic buildings such as Blackbriar’s Bridge, 100 Kellogg Lane and Westminster Ponds. The experience is designed to be family friendly, with children 12 and under admitted for free. The museum will be using a website to allow participants to upload proof of their completion remotely through text and photographs.

Contestants who successfully complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a draw for prizes, with additional prizes available for photographs posted on social media. The hunt will be held under over several days, with the goal of allowing groups to participate whenever is convenient for them. Competitions and special events like these are often used to draw attention to public institutions like the museum, alongside tools like banner printing and social media, and attract visitors from nearby neighbourhoods such as London North.

The London Heritage Scavenger Hunt can be completed between August 26 and September 5, with hunts kicking off at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology.
