The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory may have just the event that local parents are looking for as they seek to entertain the kids during the March break.
BugFeast 2016 will give those who are brave enough to overcome their squeamishness an opportunity to try something new. Three different bug-based recipes will be on offer, all served by food trucks. Ento-Melt will be cooking up grilled cheese sandwiches that feature Superworms, Chirpin’ Chimis Mexican Food Truck will serve Crunchy Cricket Tacos, and Jimmy’s Juice and Smoothie Bar will be blending tropical fruit drinks that have the extra addition of insect protein powder.
All of these taste treats are free with the price of admission. Graphic design can be used to create T-Shirts that can be sold to those who take part in an event such as this.
According to the conservatory, insects have been a part of the human diet for thousands of years. They are said to be good sources of protein, vitamins and minerals, they are easy to obtain, are inexpensive and are a renewable resource. It is estimated that as many as 1,417 species that are eaten by people in different parts of the world.
Tickets prices for the conservatory are $13.25 for ages 13-64, $11.25 for those 65 and over and $7.00 for children aged 3 to 12. They can be purchased on site or on the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory’s website.
