The city of Cambridge has recently been awarded federal government funds for revitalization projects. Also, the Toyota plant in the city has also received $34 million in matching funds from both the federal and Ontario provincial government.
Cambridge has received $601,920 from the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund for nine projects. The projects include the revitalization of the Galt Little Theatre, repairs to the Elgin Street Bridge and accessibility improvements throughout the city. Mayor Doug Craig was quoted as saying these funds will go a long way to revitalize buildings and improve the city's economy.
The Toyota plant in Cambridge received $16.9 million from the federal governments Automotive Innovation Fund and $16.9 million from the Strategic Jobs and Investment Fund of the Ontario government. The money will go towards a new assembly line for the plant.
Toyota is also investing another $125 million in the plant, which is expected to create a new gasoline-electric hybrid for luxury brand Lexus. The new assembly line is set to generate 400 jobs in the area.
No doubt all of the organizations involved in both the revitalization of Cambridge and the Toyota deal will be working with local printing companies to let the public know about their upcoming plans and projects. Toyota, for example, could send out a flyer to the general community to find residents who might be interested in working at the new assembly plant. The smaller businesses, such as the Galt Little Theatre, can let potential customers that they are working at improving their business.
