Cambridge may soon be able to offer its residents and visitors alike easy access to GO train service to and from the community, if recent plans proceed as planned.
The city’s mayor
, Doug Craig, noted that regional representatives and the province’s Transportation Minister recently held meetings on the matter, and he felt that a good case was put forward for the expansion of the commuter transportation network.
The plan for the rail line involves extending the current track that runs through Milton into the city of Cambridge. While Mayor Craig pointed out there has been no set timeframe for the enhancements to take place, he is confident that, in the near future, they will happen. Further to his comments about the timeline for the proposed improvements, Craig made the case that they will help people to easily travel to and from the city, as the current 401 infrastructure can tend to become crowded during peak hours. He added that the new rail service would provide people with a “safe, convenient way” of getting to and from Cambridge.
