A Cambridge volunteer was recently recognized for her hard work and dedication to making his community a better place.
Alison Jackson was presented a June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism at a ceremony that took place in Toronto. She was selected for all she has done over more than 30 years to help the Friends of Waterloo Region Museum. This institution seeks to preserve local culture and heritage. Tom Reitz, who is the curator at the museum, remarked that her decades of volunteering have help to ensure that the institution remains rooted in the community. He is one of the staff members who put Ms. Jackson’s name forward for the award. Through the years, she has served on its board of directors in several positions, including treasurer, president and she is currently a member at large.
Along with her work at the museum, Ms. Jackson also helps out with the United Way, the VON , the Trillium Foundation, the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario and other community service groups.
The June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism is given to both individuals and not for profit groups that make a significant difference in their communities or provide support to volunteers who do.
