On Wednesday, October 1st, the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank began its yearly fall food drive at the Charitable Research Reserve off of Blair Road.
As it stands now, the food bank assists 1,800 families in the Cambridge area on a regular basis and also helps out others by
providing emergency food hampers. In addition, the food bank offers programs in order to help people find employment.
Over the coming weeks and months the city will promote the food drive at events in the area. Participants at these events will have the opportunity to donate food and find out more about the food bank and the role it plays in helping the community.
It is possible that the Self-Help Food Bank and the City of Cambridge have hired a printing company for the purposes of poster printing. Such Posters could be used to advertise the food drive and be placed at city events.
Outside of the city’s major events the food bank will be hosting 75 food drives in Cambridge over the coming months. There is no set goal in terms of how much food the food bank wants collected, but officials have said that the drive is off to a good start as many local organizations have already pledged to donate.
Other upcoming events include the launch of Cambridge’s Oktoberfest celebrations on October 8th, as well as an event marking the return of the CP Holiday Train on December 1st.
