Another summer has come and gone, and a Cambridge area workshop will help to capture one of the flavours of the season.
The kitchen at Guelph’s Tytler Public School will be doing double duty this November when it will be acting as the venue for a class that will teach members of the public how they can make strawberry jam right in their own home. Admission is by donation, and it is an initiative of the Two Rivers Neighbourhood Group.
The students will have a chance to find out how easy it can be to make their own jam, and the method they will learn can also be used to make jams based on other fruits. The recipe that will be followed uses pectin with no added sugar, and each of the participants will be going home with a jar of freshly made jam.
While there will be jars on hand for any of the learners in the class who don’t have one, the registrants are asked to bring along one from home if possible. If they are given cards with the recipe on them to take home, they will be able to prepare jam at home, and a printing services company can supply them.
This chance for Cambridge residents to jump into jam making has been scheduled for November 5. It will begin at 6:00 pm sharp.
