The Cambridge Self Help Food Bank recently launched its spring drive to collect food for those in the area who need a helping hand.
The event had an ‘80s theme, so there was music along with games and other elements that brought attendees back to the decade.
There were also several speakers, who gave words of support and encouragement to the crowd to help spur them on in their efforts.
According to Mel Shanks, he volunteers to help out at the food bank and his kids will also do their part by sorting the donations. He noted that he was saddened the last time they performed this task, as there was not enough food to bother sorting it out.
He remarked that he hopes the drive will make a difference, and that there will soon be enough to provide for those in need. He challenged everyone present to bring in a donation.
This spring, campaign will last until April 17th and donations are being accepted at local grocery stores and fire halls. A flyer printing company can help to get the word out to the community that their assistance is urgently needed.
The Cambridge Self Help Food has been around for 30 years and each month provides help to 25 groups throughout the area, and also food hampers to more than 1,200 families who need them.
