The Mennonite Food Security Program helps to make sure that people all over the world have food on the their table. In Cambridge, a day has been planned that will give people a chance to support this initiative and have fun doing so.
Growing Hope Farm has welcomed some new baby goats into the world, and members of the public have been invited to come and meet them in person. They can even help bottle feed them, and afterwards, they can stroll through the farm and meet the animals that call it home.
The guests at the open house style event will be able to spend time with the farm’s chickens and older goats, and they can also try out the zip line, pay Frisbee golf, participate in a scavenger hunt and hunt for bugs using the bug catchers that will be available. They can also collect freshly laid eggs, and when it’s time to go, they will be welcome to purchase some produce to take home with them.
The proceeds of the day will be used to help farmers in developing countries produce food for their communities. The activity will be held rain or shine, and the attendees are reminded to be prepared to get dirty.
