Cambridge’s Growing Hope Farm has set aside a July afternoon so that area families can be part of an event that will give kids a chance to discover the joys of helping others.
They, along with their parents or guardians, will be lending a hand with a variety of chores, and the occasion has been planned so that it will be as fun as it is educational.
The farm, which works to improve food security around the world, donates all of its proceeds to help others. The kids and their families will be adding their efforts to the cause, and while they work, they will learn about the various programs this not-for-profit agricultural operation supports.
The session has been planned so that it will run for about one and a half hours, and children of all ages can get involved. Midway through the afternoon, the group will take a break for a snack, and the session will be held rain or shine.
An occasion like this can introduce youngsters to the idea of volunteering, and help them learn about the larger world around them, the challenges others face, and what they can do to make a difference.
