When people sit down to a meal, they often don’t pay much thought to where the food on their plate came from and a Cambridge event will work to change that.
The “One Seed, One Community” initiative believes that everyone has a role to play when it comes to food security and sustainability, and this can start with planting a single seed. Attendees will cultivate, grow, harvest and share their own veggie crop, and will also be encouraged to save some seeds for the next planting season.
This year, the bean dubbed “The Provider” will be the seed of choice, and the experience will kick off with a launch party that will feature musical performances and other entertainment. It will also be a time for participants to pick up their seeds and learn more about the program and how it functions, and they can get tips for caring for their plants so that they will be as productive as possible.
This free activity is open to all local families, and it can be an excellent learning opportunity for any age. Simple growing guides may be appreciated by participants, and a printing services company can supply materials such as this.
