As the days grow cooler, woolly bear caterpillars can often be found preparing for the winter months, and a Cambridge activity will introduce kids to these fuzzy friends.
The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory has tentatively planned its Woolly Bear Weekends for the month of October, and these will give young learners and the rest of the family as well, a way to learn more about these common caterpillars. The price is included in the general admission fee to the conservatory, and timed slots are available for the event.
The plans for these special weekends include an assortment of hands on learning and a scavenger hunt is on the agenda. The kids will be able to meet some woolly bears up close, and discover what they eat, where they live and how they transform from a caterpillar into a moth. An outdoor walk and video presentation will also take place.
With woolly bears being so common, kids often bring them home to show to their mom and dad. The conservatory has prepared pamphlets that provide tips for caring for these creatures, and these sorts of informational items may be ordered from area brochure printing companies.
