A Cambridge-based company will be the recipient of a grant from the provincial government designed to help boost its economy.
Cambridge Brass has been awarded $380,000 to help it in its quest to improve its ability to compete in the world marketplace. It is hoped that this will have the additional benefit of adding at least 18 jobs to the local area.
The company designs and manufactures a variety of brass fittings for use in water utilities. It is currently in the initial stages of a $5 million expansion plan that is set to take place over the next five years.
The goal is to upgrade the business’s welding and soldiering processes as well as its machine shop and foundry. This will help it to work more efficiently and be able to create its products even more quickly than it does now, which will help it to compete against other companies on the world stage, especially in North American and Caribbean markets. The $380,000 in funding will come from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, and it is dependent upon both the creation of jobs and also the company undertaking the full range of planned upgrades.
