The 31st annual Bernice Adams Memorial Awards will be given out next month. The awards are administrated by the Cultural Awards Committee of the city of Cambridge and get their name from a former Cambridge city councilor.
The award winners will be selected by the general public. They must be residents of Cambridge, work in the area or be affiliated with an educational facility in the city. They must also have contributed to the culture of the community.
The awards will be in the categories of: Communications/Literary, Music, Outstanding Youth, Performing Arts and Visual. A Special Trustees Award will also be given to someone who has excelled in two or more of the categories. Those attending the awards will be given the opportunity to honor the winners and possibly learn from their example.
In addition to the awards, the Bernice Adams Memorial Scholarship is given to grade 12 students or recent graduates in the arts. The winners must be going on to post-secondary education in music, visual arts, performing arts, literary arts or communications. The winners of the award are chosen by the Cambridge high schools themselves.
No doubt the event will be highly publicized in the Cambridge area. Organizers will likely be working with local printing companies to design and Print advertising materials such as Flyers, Brochures and Posters.
