Cambridge's Blair Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre has plans in the works for a day that will celebrate the close connection between many First Nations people and the land, and everyone is welcome to attend.
The centre has organized a day full of hands-on activities, and it will include a chance to engage in an environmental stewardship project. This will be the second year that the Reconciliation Tree Plant has taken place, and there will be plenty to see and do for all ages.
Everyone will be asked to roll up their sleeves and get planting, and cedar tea will be available for the enjoyment of all. A makers’ market of items crafted by First Nations artisans is on the agenda, and the attendees will also lend a hand in getting the Indigenous Food Garden ready for the new season. Presentations have been scheduled, and everyone can finish off their day with a hike around the grounds.
While this event is being offered for free, guests have been asked to consider making a donation to either White Owl Native Ancestry Association or Waterloo Education Foundation Inc. Print shops can craft customized receipts to use during this sort of function to be provided to each donor.
The date for the Earth Day Reconciliation Tree Plant has been set for April 18th, but this may need to be rescheduled depending on government advice at the time. It will start at 10:00am.
