The Telling Tales festival will return to Burlington for its 18th edition this October, looking to highlight children’s fiction and the art of storytelling.
The festival will include 50 top children’s authors and illustrators from across Canada and 20 oral storytellers providing multi-disciplinary presentations including music, dance and more. Participating authors include Barbara Reid, Wai Mei Wong and Danny Ramadan. There will also be French-language and ASL readings, and panel discussions aimed at a young adult audience.
In addition to story readings, Telling Tales will incorporate sculpture walks, theatrical presentations, and creative workshops for audiences of all ages. Youth performers will be in action including the Hamilton Children’s Choir and the Tottering Biped Theatre. Festivals like this often use Signs and brochure printing to highlight performers and provide a listing of the event schedule.
There will be programming aimed at different age ranges, including a Munsch Sensory Zone named after one of Canada’s most famous children’s authors and aimed at encouraging creativity. The Hamilton and Burlington Public Libraries will be presenting their own creativity zones. The Royal Botanical Garden environment will also present engaging sights, sounds and smells.
The 2026 edition of the Telling Tales festival will take place at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington on October 3 and 4. Tickets will be for a select window of time, with attendees able to move between tents.
