Symphony Nova Scotia recently gave another performance at Halifax’s Rebecca Cohn auditorium, where the group played three well known pieces of orchestral music.
Conductor Maestro Bernhard Gueller led Symphony through its rendition of Tim Brady’s Viola Concerto, which he composed in 2013 for Jutta Puchhammer-Sedillot along with the Laval Orchestra. Puchhammer-Sedillot was the guest performer for the concert.
After that, she partnered with the symphony’s Concert Master Renaud Lapierre in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. The evening concluded with Haydn’s last symphony, entitled ‘London’.
According to Gueller, who is the Musical Director, the piece by Haydn has become one of the group’s specialties, and it has played this work several times in the recent past. He also noted that, when the piece was played in 2007, it was one of the most memorable of the orchestra’s performances.
