Summer has arrived in Halifax, and that means it's almost time for an activity designed to help foster literacy development in kids.
The Central Library Branch on Spring Garden Road will be kicking off its Summer Reading Club, and in honour of the occasion, there will be some special guests on hand to meet. The theme for this year will be focused on water, and the whole family is welcome to be part of the event.
In keeping with the theme for this summer, the guests at the function will be able to get some hands-on experience with an assortment of sea creatures. Back to the Sea Centre will have snails, sea urchins, hermit crabs and sea stars in a portable touch tank, and there will be specimens on hand to investigate as well. There will be colouring and activity tables, and freezies will be supplied as well.
While the attendees enjoy the festivities, they will be able to sign up for the Summer Reading Club. Bespoke materials for a program such as bookmarks, record sheets, promotional Pens and other items can all be ordered from local poster printing companies.
The Central library branch in Halifax will be getting its Summer Reading Club off to a festive start with its Kick Off Party set for June 7th. It will begin at 10:30 am.
