Mother Nature offers many gifts, and a Halifax walking workshop will give those who enjoy working with plants an opportunity to learn about those that may have a darker side.
The team at the Bloom Institute of Holistic Living & Learning supplies the public with various educational sessions, and one that will be offered in mid-August will introduce the world of poisonous plants. A registration fee of $25.00 has been set, and it will take place during the evening.
The session will explore the history of how humans have made use of poisonous plants, including both wild and cultivated species. As everyone will gain experience in identifying those that call the local area home, it may be of interest to foragers who can use the tips shared on the next outing. The use of toxic species in modern times will also be reviewed, and the goal is for the learners to walk away with a deeper respect for, and appreciation of, these plants.
Learning about nature can be both fun and practical, and a workshop may condense a lot of information into a small amount of time. Organizers often choose to have handouts and other materials prepared, and this service can be performed by local Stationery printers.
The Bloom Institute of Holistic Living & Learning in Halifax will be running this workshop on August 19th. It will start at 6:30 pm.
