The fourth annual Nocturne Halifax will take place on October 15 from 6-Midnight. This free event, which is run entirely by volunteers, highlights the visual arts available in the city of Halifax and allows the public to experience it first-hand. The event will consist of visual arts exhibitions, demonstrations of art processes and musical performances and will take place in six zones throughout the city.
Since a lot of the displays and exhibitions will be outdoors and many will take place in established businesses, local printing companies have likely been very busy creating Banners, Posters and Brochures which will draw attention to the various events. It is important that those establishments taking part who are not known for their visual arts ties make it known they are participating in Nocturne Halifax; many of the visits will just be from people passing by on the street who have not looked at a program.
The six zones for Nocturne Halifax are North Waterfront/Downtown Halifax, South Waterfront, Spring Garden Area/Universities, North End/Hydrostone, Downtown Dartmouth and Mobile Exhibitions; most of the events will take place in area art galleries and public buildings such as Halifax City Hall and the Nova Scotia Archives. Participants taking part in the event include David Howells, Kristie Sheehy, Al Bergin, Ella Morton, Hannah Minzloff and the Girl Guides of Canada.
