Helping hands sought for Halifax project

As the winter snow gives way to April showers, volunteers will be fanning out across Halifax for an environmental stewardship project.

The 2022 Butt Blitz will run throughout the month of April, and the organizers have made it easy for people to get involved. It will be part of larger effort that will take place across the entire country, and the activity is open to those who are at least 19 years old.

The participants will be picking up cigarette butts, as well as raising awareness about the impact they can have on the environment. Those who are interested can choose from several different locations, including their home neighbourhood, and since it first started several years ago, it is estimated that 2.7 million cigarette butts have been picked up and properly disposed of. In Halifax, the litter will be sent to TerraCycle Canada so it can be recycled.

The registration system for this stewardship project is now open, and as many hands make light work, everyone is encouraged to get involved. A poster printing company can often prove to be a valuable partner in marketing not-for-profit events like this to the public.

The Halifax Butt Blitz will begin on April 1st and wrap up on April 30th. Its website has the most up-to-date information about the function, as well as links with registration Forms and other details.
