Halifax sets date for Curbside Giveaway Weekend

As Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) heads towards another summer, its residents have been advised that its annual Curbside Give Away Weekend is right around the corner.

This annual activity makes it easy for households to make their trash someone else's treasure. It will run for two days in early June, and everyone in the municipality is encouraged to get involved.

This initiative which keeps unwanted items out of the municipality’s landfills, can be a step in living a more sustainable lifestyle. Everyone who would like to participate can add their address to the maps that will be provided online, and these will be released one week ahead of its scheduled dates. Usable items should be placed curbside, and it is also suggested that they be clearly marked with a sign that says “FREE”. Any items not picked up must be removed by dusk on the Sunday evening.

Curbside pickup days and other events give households the opportunity to get rid of unwanted items while also learning about sustainability. A poster printing company can prepare information packages that include marketing materials that raise public awareness about an upcoming activity and why it matters.

The HRM will be running its Curbside Giveaway Weekend on June 7th and 8th. Its website can be consulted for more information as well as a list of suggestions for what may and may not be offered from pickup.
