A Nova Scotia marionette maker recently had a visit from a very special guest to his gallery show at the Argyle Fine Art gallery in Halifax.
Darren Moreash, who makes
hand crafted works of art, was meeting with some of the patrons who had come out to see his exhibit of Weird Al Yankovic marionettes when the real life person came in to say hello.
Entertainer Weird Al, who is well known for doing parodies of famous popular music, was in town as part of his Mandatory Fun tour. He came into the gallery, viewed the pieces on display, signed autographs and spent some time speaking with the patrons, some of whom took his photo. A printing company will be able to reproduce Copies of these that can be used as decorations or mementos of the day.
According to Moreash, the celebrity was very down to earth and easy to talk to, and he really enjoyed being able to spend some time with the man who was the inspiration behind his latest creations.
When it was time to go, Weird Al gave the artist some free tickets to his concert, and Mr. Moreash gave him one of the marionettes that had been modeled after his Amish Paradise video.
The owner of the gallery has decided to auction off a marionette that was signed by the entertainer, and the proceeds that are raised will be donate dot a not for profit of his choice.
