A simple act of kindness from a Halifax police officer has become a social media sensation.
A photo of Constable Shan Currie sitting and talking with a street busker was posted online, and it soon became a hit. It started trending on Twitter with the hashtag #HaliCop, and was transformed into a meme as users began to share their stories of how police have interacted with them on a personal level.
People started having fun with the picture, and began to Photoshop the cop’s likeness into a variety of situations that they thought were humorous, such as sitting in one of the chairs of the opening of “The Friendly Giant”, on the rocks at Peggy’s Cove, and even in a painting by Vincent Van Gogh.
According to the Halifax Police, Constable Currie will select his favorite Photoshopped version of his picture with the street busker, and will present its creator with a travel mug that he has signed. This type of custom Drinkware can be provided for organizations by a printing company.
Constable Currie remarked on CBC’ s Maritime Noon that the photo reflects the everyday life of a police officer as he goes about his work and interacts with the people he meets. It shows how they will often sit and talk with people, finding out about their day and how they are doing. Get a Free Quote for Drinkware
