The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site provides a glimpse into the city’s past, and an event with Victorian flavour will soon help the venue to kick off the holiday season.
The Citadel, which once helped to protect Halifax Harbour, will be rolling out the red, white and green carpet for its Victorian Christmas event next month. It will be celebrated over two days.
The fort will be all decked out for the season in period-style décor. Victorian music will be played, and kids can try out the games and see how children would have entertained themselves a long time ago. Father Christmas is on the guest list, and the fun will run for four hours on both days. Everyone who is interested is encouraged to pay a visit, and as a condition of entry, they are asked to bring along a donation of non-perishable food or a monetary contribution, which will be passed along to Feed Nova Scotia.

The Halifax Citadel, which sits atop Citadel Hill in downtown Halifax, will be hosting its special Victorian Christmas celebration for the public on November 25th and 26th. It will begin at 12 pm on both days, wrapping up at 4 pm. The Citadel can be reached by the Metro Transit system.
