It may still officially be summer but the Downtown Halifax Business Commission is looking ahead to plan the city’s 17th annual Holiday Parade of Lights and is looking for local businesses and non-profit groups to participate.
The commission’s executive director expects a very high turnout at this year’s festivities, which annually draws over 100,000 viewers to the city of Halifax. Floats, costumes, and walking groups will all be part of this year’s show, which is a non-profit and fundraising event. Spectators are asked to bring a donation of new and unwrapped toys for charity, along with non-perishable foods.
Community groups and Halifax companies are eligible to enter their float, put together a marching band, or simply take part in the parade as a walking group and this could be a great way for local Print companies to gain invaluable exposure to the general public in this hugely popular community event. Print companies looking for ways to become involved in the local community should consider joining the parade.
Groups must apply by September 28to be considered for entry into the Parade. Entries will then be viewed by a local committee that will decide which entrants will be accepted by October.
The Parade is set to be held on November 17 at 6:00 pm and will also feature some exciting prizes for lucky companies and organizations that enter floats. Judging will be based on creativity and overall effect, with first, second, and third prize winners. Judges will also present their favorite walking group with an award.
