Spring Geequinox 2019: Version 6.0 is taking place in Halifax next month for three days.
The
event is a convention aimed at video game players, board game players,
fans of comics and art and costume enthusiasts. It is open to people of
all ages and skills. The hosts of this year's event are Game Over,
Cancer, the Jules Verne Fhantastical Society, Maritime Ghostbusters and
several other clubs.
There will be panel discussions on topics
such as modeling basics and special effects makeup. There will also be
presentations such as "Celebrating 40 years of sci-fi/fantasy in the
Maritimes", game tournaments and workshops hosted by The Game Doctor,
Shawn Kehoe.
Two costume contests are set for Sunday; one for
children aged 12 and under and one for adults. Prizes will be handed out
to the winners. A popular part of the convention is set to be the
vendor's room. Games, comics, artwork and plenty of other merchandise
will be available for sale.
Ticket prices vary depending on age. A
weekend adult pass is $15 or $10 for Saturday or Sunday. For children
between the ages of 9 and 12 tickets cost $5 and children under 8 are
free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Friday is free to everyone
who has a weekend pass.
