The 23rd Atlantic Fringe Festival is due to kick off in Halifax later this month, and will run for 11 days into September.
The festival is open to any performer or theatre group who feels they have something to share with the community. This year, there is expected to be more than 300 performers taking part, with 50 different shows scheduled. Artists will be coming from all over Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Productions will include musicals, dramas, comedy shows, dance performances, and even belly dancers. Ticket prices for the performances begin at $5 and can be purchased from each venue directly.
The performances will take place across five venues: the Neptune Studio Theatre, the North Street Church, the Bus Stop Theatre, the Pier 21 Museum, and Theatre NS's The Living Room. Some of the performances which have already been announced include Phaedras Bed, Help, and I am Having a Quarter-life Crisis.
Organizers are currently looking for volunteers to staff box offices, act as ushers, and a number of other necessary tasks. All of those who work at the festival will get the opportunity to appear in one of the shows.
The festival is well advertised in the Halifax area and around the country. It's likely that local printing companies have helped with this by providing such services as flyer and poster printing.
