Dartmouth to host pool fundraiser
The Dooly’s Portland Street pool hall will be looking to give back this September as it hosts an annual fundraiser for the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia.
The fundraiser will take the form of a Scotch doubles tournament, in which two players take alternate shots in a classic billiards format. The format is a popular one among both casual and competitive pool players for its teamwork and strategy. The BIANS tournament will be held in a doubles elimination format to ensure that each two-person team gets multiple games.
There will be cash prizes for the top three finishing duos in the tournament. The event will also include a silent auction with items donated from local businesses and a 50/50 draw to further raise money for the charitable cause. Fundraisers like this often use tools like poster printing to help reach a larger audience.
A portion of all registration fees will go towards the BIANS organization, which provides medical and logistical support for people suffering brain injuries and their families across Nova Scotia. The organization describes its goals as:
