Dartmouth conference to focus on Atlantic downtowns

The Downtowns Atlantic organization will be holding its annual conference in Dartmouth this May, focusing on growing downtown areas across the Maritimes.

The conference, featuring the theme “Growing Forward”. gathers representatives of Business Improvement Association and Chamber of Commerce as well as other stakeholders. There will be panels on subjects like developing main streets and other retail areas, effective marketing and branding, event hosting, and keeping downtowns clean and safe. The keynote speech will be delivered by Kris Larson, the Chair of the Downtown Houston and International Downtown Associations, with a second keynote speaker to be announced in the lead-up to the conference.

There will also be an awards ceremony for outstanding business groups throughout Atlantic Canada nominated by organization members, with categories including Leadership & Management, Economic Development, and Marketing & Promotions. The conference offers plenty of opportunities for networking, including a walking tour of downtown Dartmouth, lunch at the Park Avenue Community Oven, and an evening reception.

Attendees at events like this often use tools like business cards and promotional item to help make better professional connections. The conference is hosted by the Downtowns Atlantic Canada organization, which represents over 15,000 businesses through various BIA and BID groups.

The 2025 Downtowns Atlantic Conference will take place at the Barrington Hotel and Downtown Dartmouth from May 28 to 30.
