For people living with autism or other conditions that can impact sensory perception, public spaces can be difficult, and Winnipeg's Children’s Museum has planned an activity with this demographic in mind.
The institution has created its Explore-Abilities Access Program to help make sure everyone can join in the learning and fun, and one of the events that will be part of this initiative is the Explore-Abilities Morning. It is intended for autistic children and others with sensory processing conditions, and it will offer interactive fun.
During this activity, lights and sound will be reduced, and there will be visual signage to ensure that everyone will be able to enjoy themselves safely. There will be designated quiet areas to retire to when the kids need a break, and the number admitted to the museum during this time will be reduced so there won’t be any large crowds.
Along with this, the organizers explained that there will be specially trained staff members on hand to ensure that everyone has a positive experience during their visit. Name tags, social story Books, Signs and other items that are often needed during this sort of function can a be obtained from area Print shops.
The Children's Museum has planned this morning of inclusive fun for October 17th. It is scheduled to begin at 8am, and will continue until 9:25am.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Books
