Vancouver workshop to introduce art of foraging

An East Vancouver garden store and nursery wants to share its love of plants with the world, and it has organized a class that will offer members of the public an easy introduction to foraging for food plants.

Figaro’s Garden has organized its Foraging Walk as part of its larger series of neighbourhood excursions, called the Walk with an Expert series. The foraging session will be led by subject matter expert Julia Thiessen, and it will explore the urban landscape from the perspective of those who are on the hunt for wild food, and everyone will learn how to identify some of the most common species. They will also be taught how to prepare them in the home kitchen.

This rain-or-shine session will both depart and return to Figaro’s Garden. Simple field guides may be very helpful to those who are just getting started with a nature-based hobby like this, and they can be prepared by a printing services company that offers a range of binding options.

Figaro’s Garden will be hosting its Foraging Walk on Saturday, June 10th. It will begin at 11 am from 1896 Victoria Drive in Vancouver, with participants returning at 12 pm. There is no registration fee, and anyone who would like to secure their spot can now do so on its Eventbrite listing.
