Amateur astronomers and those who simply enjoy gazing at the stars are invited to come to an event at Vancouver’s H. R. MacMillan Space Centre that will celebrate Jupiter, also known to many as
the “king of the planets”.
The Cosmic Nights: Jupiter party will give those who take part a chance to enjoy the planetarium after hours with wine and other beverages, games and an opportunity to listen to a lecture by Dr. Brett Gladman from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Gladman will be discussing Jupiter, its moon Europa, and the information that has been gathered so far during the Juno spacecraft mission that was launched to learn more about them.
Shows will take place at both 7:30 and 9:00 pm but the doors will be open at 6:30 so that people can browse through the different displays while they socialize over a glass of wine or other drinks. Brochures can be used to provide those who participate in functions such as this with more information about the topics being discussed and further stimulate their interest in the topic.
Tickets for the event, which will take place on July 7th and is open to those aged 19 and over, have been priced at $20.00 each. They can be purchased through Eventbrite and further details can be found on the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre’s website.
