Vancouver now ready in case of earthquake

The city of Vancouver has recently been carrying out updates and upgrades to its systems, making the area better prepared in the event of an earthquake.

According to officials, it is an area that is at an increased risk for this type of natural disaster, and the local authority has been working to help make sure that the city and its residents are ready should the worst happen.

Now, the official earthquake preparedness strategy has been updated, and officials are beginning to make improvements to infrastructure.

One area worked on is the laying of new water pipes with joints that can move, which will help to prevent cracks in case of a tremor. This means that, if an earthquake occurs, there is an increased chance of residents being able to access fresh, clean water.

Brochure printers can create pamphlets and other materials that let locals know what to do in the event of an emergency.

Plans have also been created for evacuating the downtown area, and disaster response routes have been determined, which will be able to bring in emergency personnel quickly and easily.

The new measures came about after a visit by officials to Christchurch in New Zealand, where they heard about the lessons that authorities there learned following the earthquake that hit the city several years ago.
