An upcoming program in Vancouver will mark International Bird Migratory Day with a special event.
The UBC Botanical Garden in Vancouver is known for giving the public a place to relax and interact with nature. The area's feathered friends will be the stars of the Morning Bird Tour that will be held at the venue; this will include both common and hard-to-spot species. It will be geared towards beginner birders, and the participants will use their senses of sight and sound.
The outing will introduce the attendees to the characteristics that can be helpful when identifying species in the field, and they will also learn how to recognize their calls. There will be discussion of their habitat requirements and how home gardeners can provide them, and everyone will be taught how to use the Merlin app on their mobile device. They will be welcome to remain at the venue after the function is over, so they can keep on practising their new skills.
