Ultra high speed internet coming to Vancouver

An internet provider in Vancouver is to bring a new high speed broadband service to the area’s residents.

For many people, having access to an efficient internet service is an essential part of daily life. However, since many of those in Vancouver live in apartment and condo buildings, where underground cables cannot be utilised, it’s not always readily accessible in the area and people had to put up with slower services. Thanks to Vancouver’s One Gigabit though, this is about to change

The company plans to bring super-fast web access to multi-unit buildings, but to make it cost effective, all of the residents must sign up for the service. With speeds that top one gigabit per second, which is 60 times faster than the current average, it will make it doing business online much easier and more people will be able to work from home. This will hopefully lead to an increase in business for companies which perform such tasks as Website Design, designing digital Business Cards, and many other computer-based jobs.

The cost per customer is expected to be lower than $100 a month, with an average between $65-75. Since the service was first offered a little over a week ago, one building has signed up and quite a few others have expressed an interest.

At the present time, it is not economically feasible to install this cable in single family dwellings, but it is believed that, as the current technology and infrastructure improves, this will change. According to One Gigabit owner Eric Kuhnke, the company also plans to expand its network to other cities across Canada.
