Eating fresh, locally sourced fruits and vegetables is wonderful for both the body and mind, but when one works downtown, it can be hard to get them. Fortunately for those in Vancouver’s urban core, getting them will soon be much easier.
A group of nine local urban and “almost urban” farmers have banded together to bring the fruits of their labors to the public. They have gotten together to form a business co-operative, and are hiring staff to assist with the Packaging and distribution of their products. This will save them time, allowing them to have more of an opportunity to work on their farms.
Products such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, and honey will be sold at a farm market cart in Robson Square. They will also sell preserves, fresh ice cream and salads, and even artisan herb vinegars.
One of the nicest aspects of the venture will be their program of delivering food baskets to employees who work in the downtown area each week. Interested companies with more than 30 employees can sign up for 17 weeks of this farm to office delivery. Gaming giant Electronic Arts has been the first to join.
It is hoped that the system will be able to serve up to 700 customers, and help to increase the co-operative’s profits by $250,000 gross per year.
Flyer printing companies can help with a project such as this by producing advertising leaflets that can be posted throughout the city and included in each basket.Get a Free Quote for Packaging
