Local businessman and printer dies

Catalog printers around the Vancouver area may want to pay their final respects to Donald Atkins, a local printer in Vancouver who had been active in the printing industry for many years.

Born in the year 1932 in Vancouver, Atkins spent all of his life there. Based on a press release from BCPIA (the British Columbia Printing and Imaging Association), in his adult life, Atkins progressed to becoming a printer as well as a businessman at Benwell Atkins Printers, a part of which bears his surname. While printing was his passion and his life’s calling, he was additionally active in the local Vancouver community, supporting many worthy causes such as the local YMCA, the Vancouver Playhouse, and the SA&D Publishers.

Atkins’ printing house, Benwell Atkins Printers, has been around since 1926 and is still in operation. Today, it is a provider of prepress, digital printing, finishing, kitting and fulfillment, Forms and commercial Print. It boasts of having traditional values, seasoned professionals and also state-of-the-art technology in its operations.
