Vancouver residents are being asked to give their input into what they’d like to see in the redevelopment of the city's former Oakridge Center site.
The site covers over 28 acres, and will house a mixture of commercial and residential spaces, with the tallest being 45 stories high. Included in the plans is a large recreation center, as well as plenty of green belts and park spaces where people can come together as a community and enjoy the great outdoors.
Public open houses were held back in November, in an attempt to gather input from the citizens of Vancouver about the project. These open houses attracted over 1,400 participants. A Print company was also called upon to produce comment Forms, and over 300 of these were completed and returned. Suggestions made ranged from an outdoor wedding venue, a dog park, a meditation garden, and even a man-made beach area.
An online survey has also been added to the City of Vancouver's website, where interested persons can have their say. Respondents are asked to choose five of the nineteen listed options for the redevelopment, and there is also a section where they can give their own input and suggestions.
The website will be up until May 15, and those interested can access the survey by visiting Vancouver.ca. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the planning stages for the Oakridge Center site, as the more people get involved, the better the end result will be.
