Welcoming a new member to the family can be an exciting experience, and parents-to-be are encouraged to add their name to the roster of attendees for a series of three workshops that will help them prepare for their new arrival.
St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver has organized its In-Person Prenatal series for June, and it’s recommended that those interested start their series between 28 and 32 weeks. The series is for both the pregnant woman and her support person, and each runs for three hours.
The first instalment will cover labour and delivery, including how to tell when labour is beginning. Pain relief, what to expect and the role of the support person will be discussed. The second session will address the postpartum period, including baby care. A lactation consultant will be on hand for the final class, which will be dedicated to breastfeeding.
Prenatal classes can help parents-to-be gain confidence in their ability to welcome their new arrival. Course handbooks, teaching Posters and other learning materials can add even more value to a workshop, and they can be prepared by area Stationery printers.
The three-part class series is scheduled to start on June 14th. The other classes will be held on June 21st and June 28th at 1081 Burrard Street. The registration fee for each woman and support person is $256.93.
