The Keep Vancouver Spectacular event began in 1996 and has been attracting more volunteers every year. It takes place from May 1 to May 31 and is sponsored by such local companies as Tim Hortons, the City of Vancouver and Tourism Vancouver. The event will be kicked off on April 30th at the Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre. On June 8, Vancouver city hall will host a thank you event to celebrate all those who took part.
Keep Vancouver Spectacular consists of teams of volunteers headed up by block captains. These block captains are in contact with the City and are the people who hand out the supplies needed for the cleanup.
